Now Comes in 2 Sizes – 10″ and the new 14″ brush! Stain 40% faster with the large 14″ size!
Deck Floor Staining Push Brush will help you get your project done quickly. It does a great job of breaking the surface tension and forcing the stain into the wood. That means that your staining job will look good, and last longer. This brush is ideal for staining decks, fences, and wood siding. The 2 3/4″ soft fibers are set in a 10″ x 2.5″ or 14″ x 2.5″ molded plastic block. The block accepts standard threaded pole handles (as well as flow-thru handles). A threaded pole is not included.
Note: This brush works with Transparent, Semi-Transparent Wood Stains, and most Semi-Solid Wood Stains.
*It will not work with a Solid Color Stain.
Advantages
- 10″ or 14″ Width Allows You to Stain More Boards At Once
- Cuts Your Staining Time in Half
- Breaks Surface Tension and Forces Stain Into Wood Pores
- Saves Your Back and Knees
- Accepts Standard Threaded Handles/Extension Poles
Can this brush and semi solid be used for staining a cedar ceiling (outdoor patio)?
We would not suggest this for staining upside down for a ceiling. It would be very messy. Works great for horizontal flooring.
Can I use this brush to apply the cleaner and brightener and then use it to stain the fence?
No, this brush is not a scrub or application brush for the prep products. Stain only.
I am a little confused on why this cannot be used on solid stains… I want the stain to get worked in to the wood and I would think this kind of brush would do that better than a roller?
The solid stain is too thick for this floor brush.
I bought the yellow 10-inch deck staining brush two separate times a few years apart. The first brush I received looks like the picture on your website. It has Restore-A-Deck sticker with UPC code, cleared the Trex deck railing when staining the decking, and worked great. The second brush I received differs from the first. It is designed differently, sits a bit higher, and when attached to a pole it did not fit cleanly under the deck railing. This was problematic when staining the decking. I am interested in repurchasing the brush, but only if you are selling the first version that I received. Which version are you currently selling? Thank you
We have only ever had one version, not two. It does not in 2 different sizes. 10″ and 14″.
Does the 10″ brush match what is pictured on your website?
For whatever reason, the Restore A Deck Wood Staining Brushes I previously received were not the same. First order #00033277; packing slip date: 05/21/2018. Second order #00056701; packing slip date: 07/28/2021.
Can this staining brush be used with Armstrong Clark or TWP semi-solid stains?
Yes, it can.
Ok thanks!
I am assuming the wide brush is not angled appropriately for a fence. I would like to suggest that you make/sell a brush that can be attached to a handle for applying stain to a fence. Last year my thighs were killing me from kneeling and standing over and over for each board on my fence. And my knees are not as good as last year!
The Wooster brushes can be attached to a pole. You can also use the stain pads: https://www.restore-a-deck.com/decktools.html
Hello,
I stained my cedar fence using 1 coat of semi-transparent stain a year ago, as recommended. Can I apply another coat now? If so, can I wash with dish soap and water before staining?
Jen
When reapplying you need to use the RAD prep products. Clean and brighten.
I used the 14″ brush and it was fabulous, so quick to stain!! I cleaned the brush afterward but I need to use it again on a different deck. The brush is a little stiff as if I did not get all the product out. Can I re-soak it in mineral spirits to make it better/softer at this late date? Or will it loosen up when I start staining again? Thanks for the great products! Kevin G
It probably will not clean out. Sorry.
Can I shake the semi-transparent stain in the container and then pour it into a small hand-held cup to use as I paint my fence – kinda James Bond style…shaken not stirred?
Yes, you can 007.
What is the proper way to clean the brush after it was used to apply RAD semi-transparent? What is the proper way to clean the throughs (where we pour the stain into for application)?
Use water to clean both.
I’m ordering your yellow brush for staining my cedar deck with RAD stain. I also have 800 sf of solid cedar fencing, 6′ tall. Would this brush on a pole work well for applying stain to the fence or will I want a regular (hand held) brush or pad? Also, how about a large pergola with lots of thin cross pieces and fretwork? And several Adirondack chairs? What’s the best applicator to apply RAD stain to these detailed areas? (This will be the Summer-of-Staining-Everything-in-Sight.)
Use a pad or brush for vertical wood. Same with pergola or chairs.
When to use a stain brush vs pad? Thanks
Most use this yellow brush for the floors and the pads for edging and the rails.
Is this brush can reuse after wash with water? I feel that I cannot complete the whole project in one time.
If you clean it well it should be okay to use later.
this deck brush has lasted me years. I’ve done my deck more than once with this brush. paired with an adjustable extension pole it makes short work out of big square foot decks!
how do I order samples

The stain brush has dried up RAD semi-transparent stain. What is the best way to clean the brush to get it back to the original state? Thank you very much.
Once the stain has dried on the brush it cannot be cleaned off to reuse.
How long will unused stain last? Does it matter if it’s opened or unopened?
12 months if opened. 2-3 years if unopened. Cannot freeze.
Will the RAD brush work with Armstrong Clark semi solid stain?
Yes.
When using this 11″ brush, do you sell the “paint tray”?
No, we do mot. Any tray will work.
How is the best way to use the brush? Do you push it once over or back and forth? Do you have a video showing how to apply?
It is very easy. Just apply back and forth with the grain of the board and make sure it is even and soaking into the wood.
Will this brush apply stain in between the deck boards? Or will I need to use the crack and groove tool?
The brush may get down in there somewhat but that would depend on the width of your gaps.
I just received the brush with my semi-transparent stain. The brush seems to have a lot of small white fibers clinging to the brush bristles. I am worried that those fibers may end up in the stain on my deck…
It will not and that is normal.
I’m reading that you only need 1 coat of stain, but people are saying they are doing 2 coats. Why would one want to do 2 coats if only one is needed? Please advise. Thank you kindly
It depends on the age of the wood and how porous the wood is.
Question: if my deck is 2 year old cedar – and is very clean (just power washed then used your cleaner and brightener today) – do I need two coats?
Yes, wet on wet: https://www.restore-a-deck.com/Deck-Cleaning-Reviews-and-Tips/restore-a-deck-stain-wet-on-wet-application.html
Does this stain brush work for brightening the deck also?
No, it is not designed for applying a brightener.
I lightly sanded the railing boards after using brightener to get rid of a little furring. If I wet it a few times, will that allow me to stain sooner that 2 months?
No, not if new wood.
I inadvertently left off a deck staining brush when I placed my order this morning. Is there any way to amend that order?
We cannot add to orders as we do not keep credit cards on file.
For an older deck with an imperfect surface, what tool is better the brush or the speed mop?
Yellow brush.
How do you clean the brush after applying stain?
With water.
*It will not work with a Solid Color Stain. What type brush would work for your solid stains.
Any normal hand brush and rollers.
Sorry typo, SICO semi-transparent stain
It should but never used it with that brand.
Will this brush work with semi-transparent sick stain?
Is it faster to use a sprayer and back brush?
or Is it better to just use the brush?
I want it to last…
Use the RAD Staining brush for best results.
Exactly how to you use this brush to apply the stain? Does one pour the stain into something like a paint roller pan, dip the brush into the pan and then apply? Or do you spray on the stain and then use the brush to push it into the wood?
Dip into paint tray and apply.
This stain brush is the best I’ve used! Highly recommended…
do you need to double the amount of stain for two coats or just had half more, or one third more?
The second coat will go about twice as far as the first coat.
Does the coverage of 100-200 sq. ft. mean one coat? if need to cover 400 sq.ft. do I need one or two gallons? (sorry for dumb question) Fred
That is for one coat. If doing the two coats, you will need about 4 gallons.
