We used the aqueous restore a deck product on our deck and would like to change to the timber oil. Do we need to sand prior to application?
No, strip and brighten for prep: https://www.restore-a-deck.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit.html
Hi, I plan on applying a maintenance coat of Woodrich Timber oil on my cedar front deck (west exposed) later this summer. It hasn’t been stained for several years and is beginning to fade. I have been using Woodrich TO since day one in amaretto and wondered if it’s okay to just clean and brighten the deck as I have done in the past using RAD cleaner/brightener or would I need to strip and brighten? I plan to apply Woodrich TO again as it’s kept the deck looking fresh over the years.
Clean and brighten for prep is good.
I have a previous timber oil coat on my covered porch. It is weathering on the east end. Should I use the cleaner, stripper, and brightener prior to reapplying timber oil?
Strip and brighten to ensure the new coat applies evenly. No need for the cleaner.
1st coat of timber oil on-direct sun alot of the time-how long before recoat ? very warm here.
9-12 months or as needed.
does the timber oil come in clear with no tint
It does not.
Warm Honey Gold-what went wrong ??
Nothing wrong. Stains enhance the natural grain of your wood and your wood has a deep darkening inside it.
ok- I did some rails also and they came out light, like I wanted. Would wetting the wood help ?
No, that would not help. Did you brighten the wood? That may help.
Hi Ed. Just curious about this picture. How long had this been applied before you took the shot? TIA
How long will this stain last before having to recoat again?
About 2 years.
Can this be sprayed on with garden pump sprayer?
Yes.
Can this be applied to PT wood fence? I bought my N Florida home last year and have a 4 yr old builder-grade pressure treated pine privacy fence that is due for a pressure washing (starting to “gray” and show it’s age). The builder/original owners did not stain or seal the wood when installed. If I can use the Woodrich Timber Oil on the freshly pressure washed fence boards, should I use a brightener (RAD Brightener??) before the oil?
Use the RAD Cleaner and then the RAD Brightener for prep. The Timber Oil will work well after.
Is this product exterior, interior or both?
Exterior only.
